Apply to attend ASU

ASU offers hundreds of highly ranked degree programs that put you on the path to wherever you want to go. For prospective students exploring Arizona State University admission, this page outlines how to apply to ASU and key steps in the process.

This page details how to apply to ASU for undergraduate, graduate, international, online and visiting student pathways, with guidance organized by student profile. ACT or SAT scores are not required, though they are encouraged for merit scholarships. Apply early and submit only one application (ASU application or Common App), and avoid using a school email.

Undergraduates can find resources on nondegree study, readmission, deferrals and transcripts. Students interested in Barrett, The Honors College, must submit a separate application. Graduate applicants should review university and program-specific standards and apply via the appropriate portal. Frequently asked questions about becoming a first-year student at ASU

Do I need to submit ACT or SAT scores to be admitted or to qualify for merit scholarships at ASU?

No. ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission to ASU or to be considered for an ASU merit-based scholarship, but they are encouraged.

Should I use the ASU application or the Common Application, and can I submit both?

You can apply with either the ASU application or the Common Application — ASU does not prefer one over the other —but you should submit only one. If two applications are submitted, one will be canceled and application fees are nonrefundable. If you’re applying to multiple universities, the Common App may save time, though each school’s fee still applies.

When should I apply, and how long does the application take?

Apply as early as possible — the earlier you apply, the sooner you’ll receive an admission decision. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Be sure to review the admission requirements for your student type and check the deadline for your intended start term.

How do I apply to Barrett, The Honors College, and do I need to wait for my ASU admission decision?

Barrett requires a separate application. You may apply to Barrett after you submit your ASU admission application but you do not need to wait for an admission decision from ASU.

How do I check my application status, and what email should I use when applying?

Use My ASU, the ASU admissions portal to check your application status. When applying, avoid using a school email address, as you may lose access to it after graduation.
