How your student can become more productive

1981

Does your student struggle to get things done? Maybe they focus on how hard it will be or how much time it will take to complete a task. As a parent, you can encourage them to set deadlines and plan ahead, but according to science, the secret is to just start.

Here’s how it works. Our brains will actually produce the Zeigarnik Effect, which causes us to finish what we’ve started. If your student starts a task and fails to complete it, they'll become uncomfortable and ultimately, nag themself into revisiting it. AsapSCIENCE does a great job explaining the phenomenon and offers some great tips to get your student to hit the ground running.
