Begin as a junior in an aligned ASU degree program and complete your bachelor’s degree with no more than 60 additional semester units.

Nearly 100 ASU bachelor’s degree programs have pathways mapped directly to California ADTs. Beyond those programs, you can explore nearly 500 in-person bachelor’s degree options in Arizona and California and more than 200 ASU Online options.

Even when a program is not mapped directly to your ADT, eligible coursework may still apply toward the degree. ASU transfer tools and experts can help you understand how your courses transfer and find the program that fits your goals.

Frequently asked questions

An Associate Degree for Transfer, or ADT, is a California Community College associate degree designed to help students continue into a bachelor’s degree program. Through this statewide agreement, California ADTs are mapped to aligned ASU bachelor’s degree pathways.

Yes. Students who complete an ADT program, also commonly referred to as a degree with a guarantee, are guaranteed admission to ASU in aligned degree pathways. This includes AA-T and AS-T degrees. 

Yes. Students admitted to an ASU bachelor’s degree program aligned with their completed ADT degree will receive junior standing.

An aligned pathway will require no more than 60 additional semester units after completion of the ADT, AA-T or AS-T. Before you transfer, you’ll see exactly how your completed courses apply, which requirements remain and your degree-specific path to graduation.

Yes. In an aligned pathway, your completed ADT will be accepted in place of ASU’s lower-division general education requirements. 

Yes. You can use the pathway finder and connect with a California Community College counselor while completing your ADT. ASU's admission and completion benefits apply once your ADT is complete.

Yes. You do not need an ADT to transfer to ASU. Your courses will be evaluated individually to determine how they apply to your chosen degree. ASU accepts college-level courses in which transfer students have earned a grade of “C-“ (4.00 = ”A”) or better from regionally accredited colleges and universities. Yes. The Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) are two types of California Associate Degrees for Transfer, often shortened to ADT or AD-T. If you complete an AA-T or AS-T, you receive guaranteed admission to ASU. 

Yes. You can complete many aligned ASU degrees online from anywhere in California. You can also combine online learning with in-person support through ASU Local in Los Angeles, Long Beach or Chula Vista, or choose from select in-person degree programs in downtown Los Angeles.

ASU Local combines online coursework with weekly in-person sessions where you can connect with a success coach and other ASU students in your community. California locations are available in Los Angeles, Long Beach and Chula Vista.

Yes. Online students learn from the same ASU faculty, meet the same academic standards and earn a degree from Arizona State University. Your diploma will not identify whether you completed your degree online.

Yes. ASU offers six start dates throughout the year, although specific start dates vary by program and how you choose to attend. See the academic calendar for specifics. 

Tuition depends on where and how you attend. Eligible ASU Online students may qualify for the California Community College Achievement Plan tuition rate and additional scholarship support. Eligible students attending ASU in Los Angeles at the ASU California Center may qualify for tuition equivalent to the University of California's in-state tuition.
