Arizona State University hosts a number of arrival and welcome events for incoming international students. These informative and interactive programs offer an overview of a wide variety of topics to help you learn more about ASU.
Spring 2024 International Welcome
International Welcome will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 for undergraduate and graduate students. All new undergraduate, transfer and graduate international students are required to attend International Welcome. This in-person event offers informative and interactive programs, and an overview of a wide variety of topics to help you learn more and prepare for life at ASU.
Registered students and families will receive additional details and the full event schedule through email. Students who register for International Welcome will also receive communication about free airport transportation provided by Lyft. You can see the Lyft information here.
As you prepare for the fall 2023 semester, please note that all international students are expected to attend classes in person.
If you are a first-year or transfer student, we recommend that you arrive in the U.S. on Thursday, January 4, 2024. If you plan to live on campus, this is the earliest you can arrive at your housing assignment. If you arrive earlier than January 4, you will be responsible for your own housing accommodations (e.g., hotel, staying with family or friends, etc.) until then. ASU has provided a list of preferred hotel partners and you can view them here.
If you are living on campus, you can arrive and move-in on January 4, even though the Housing Portal may show a different date and time. This early move-in is to accommodate your attendance at International Welcome and other early start programs you may be participating in.
